‘Pedaling For Kids’ Because: “From 1971 through 1975 I was stationed in Washington, D.C. and was assigned to the Navy Ceremonial Guard. While there I volunteered at a local Special Needs Children’s Ward. Most of the children were wheelchair-bound due to birth defects or spine injuries from accidents. My heart would go out to these kids – despite the struggles and disadvantages they faced, they always had a smile and a positive attitude. I have never forgotten the struggles these children faced and consider it now a privilege to contribute to the well-being of the disabled children of our community through ‘Pedaling for Kids’.”

‘Pedaling For Kids’ Because: “Seeing a child succeed is one of my favorite moments. I love that, so I have carved out a lot of my professional training, experience, and energy to get that done. In that sense, giving is receiving. There are plenty of emotionally and physically needy kids out there. These children deserve a push, a nudge, and a best shot. If there’s anything I can do to help in that way, and I can ride a bike to make their life better, well, that’s paying it forward on a double whammy.”
